Browsers and favorites

When you are browsing the internet, you are using a browser to do so. There are many different browsers you can use to browse the internet. If you use a Mac the default browser is Safari, if you use Windows the default will be Internet Explorer. The most popular Browsers are Google Chrome and Firefox, but all of these use what is called favorites(though sometimes also called bookmarks).

The first thing you should know: if you are using Internet Explorer, STOP. Go and download a better more secure browser like Chrome or Firefox.

Favorites are a way of making a shortcut to a website that you go to regularly or want to check out at a later time without having to remember the name. Here are some links on how to create a favorite in the browser you are using:

Chrome

Safari

Firefox

Internet Explorer

It is important to be aware that not all websites display or work properly in all browsers. It all depends on the person or people that developed the website. So it is a very good idea to have at least one additional browser installed on your computer. If a website is not working correctly you may want to view it in a different browser to see if it works properly there.
